Kira Leonidovna Slobodskaya was born on December, 31, 1934 in Leningrad. As a child she had survived horrible days of World War II when the city was under siege by the Germans. In 1952 she began her secretarial work in the trade union committee of the Leningrad State University, proceeding at the same time with her studies in the evening high school. After graduation from the school in 1954, Kira Leonidovna entered the Biological Department of the University (external division) and simultaneously began her work at the Theoretical Physics Department. Since then, all her life was inseparably linked with the Theoretical Physics Department and especially with the Quantum Mechanics Division. For fifty years running Kira Leonidovna performed the duties of the permanent secretary of the Quantum Mechanics Division. The range of her responsibilities was very wide: she worked up the technical documentation, was in charge of the science library of the Division as well as of the memorial library of academician V.A.Fock, and was also responsible for financial accounting. She kept all her affairs in perfect order and demanded the same from the faculty and staff. Strict and exigent in everything concerning the business, Kira Leonidovna became the life and soul of the party when some festivities and celebrations took place.

Kira Leonidovna Slobodskaya was a socially active member of the Physics Department, taking part in many public affairs. For her activities in the public life of the Department, she was awarded with several diplomas. She could not imagine her life without the Quantum Mechanics Division, and the other members paid her back with their respect and gratitude. She will be always remembered by her colleagues and friends.
